Vocation Camp @ VoC

Hello there. (",) I'm here.

The notice in church bulletin

When people talk about VOCATION CAMP, what is our first impression? Many thought it is for those who are wanna become religious. I still remember when I was a kid, I wanna become a priest. Life of a priest look simple yet respected by all peoples. Some of my girlfriends also dreamed wanna become a nun. Few years back, I had attended a vocation camp in my hometown parish. It was all abouts how to know whether you are suits to enter religious life. Do it same with this Kuantan vocation camp? Aiya...

Vocation Camp???

So, what do you think? Is it attending the VoC will inspired you to become a priest? Or a nun? That was happen last Saturday when 12 children of God respond to a call. A call to serve His universal church.

The VoC was organised by St. Thomas Church. Rev. Fr. Eugene himself conducted the VoC from the beginning till the end. Seven varsity students attended this camp together with single adults in the parish.

The main objectives of the VoC was to promote discipleship among participants. My first impression already corrected by Fr. Eugene when he explained the objectives of the camp. The VoC began by "breaking fast" at the community centre balcony.
Some words from Fr. Eugene

During the first session, Fr Eugene talked about relationship with God.

He guided us to reflect our daily life and connect it with spiritual life. Fr. Eugene also showed us the video about the life of Catholic arround the world. Then, we also had 20mins of silent to think deeper about our relationship with God. During this session, I was thinking a famous song back in my hometown; "Biar ku menjadi lilin".

"Biar ku menjadi lilin. Memberikan cahaya..."

We also had the opporturnity to see the relics of martyrs from Vietnam and Korea which was about 100 years old! The relics were came from College General, Penang. All the martyrs was executed for their faith in Christ. They did not want to renounce their faith when the authority ordered to do so.

So far the VoC had inspired the participants to involve more actively in church. Most of them happy to meet new friends. Some of them exchange numbers. The camp ended around 3.30pm on Sunday evening. All faces were fresh as green apples at Giant supermarket after the camp end.

See some of their actions; aisehmen.

Before we depart from church, again we snap photo with Father. We were very happy and thanked God bacause giving us chance to attend this camp. Thanked also to Father Eugene for the inputs during this camp.

By next Vocation Camp, I hope many will turn up answering God's calling to serve in His church.

Amen.
