Penang Odyssey [Part 4]

Hello...

It is our last day of our odyssey. I woke up early because there was an "alarm" disturb my dream. I got the sound recorded. You can email me if you want the softcopy.

That morning, I felt really fresh because the breeze from the sea blew my face. I watched ships and boats were moving towards the sea.

I enjoyed the sea view from my room.

After breakfast, we gathered at Stella Maris compound. All faces happy because they will witness a historic event today.
We left Stella Maris at 9.00am. 20minutes later, we arrived at College General. I saw many peoples from South East Asia region came that day.

I met a group of from Thailand.

We were directed to the college main hall where the mass was celebrated.
Varsity students sat behind the choir group. Ha... there's Bro Greg. He sat with the choir. There were many peoples inside the hall. Almost pack. That day was the 200th years of establishment of College General in Penang.

As usual, I went outside to take some photos. The mass began at 10.00am with procession of alumnies. For the first time, I saw many priests and bishops celebrating the mass came from various countries. It seems that I was in Rome.
The mass was presided by His Lordship Rt. Rev Anthony Selvanayagam, Bishop of Penang.
Arch/bishops from Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei were also present there. The Papal nuncio to Malaysia, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio also present representing Pope Benedict XVI. I estimated over hundered priests attended the mass.
The arch/bishops.

I snapped Fr. George's photo.
There was a priest from India.

The mass finished at 12.00pm. There were lunch provided infront of the hall. The clergies had their meal under special tents near the office.

Fr. Eugene enjoyed his lunch with few old friends.

And before they left, they managed took photo with Archbishop John Ha from Kuching.

We left College General at 1.30pm and check out from Stella Maris Centre at 2.00pm. Upon check out from Stella Maris, we proceed to St. Anne Church, Bukit Mertajam. The journey took about 1 hour 30 minutes.

We spent 30minutes tour around the church.

Officially, we depart to Kuantan at 4.00pm. We stopped at Tapah R&R to have dinner. After boarding the bus, immediately I was in dreamland. We arrived Kuantan around 2.00am.

From the 4 days 3 nights, we can conclude that:

1. Penang = heaven of food (char kueh tiaw, laksa, cendol, rojak, burger...)

2. forget about nasi kandar on raya day. Mission 3 failed...

3. Bring lots of money. Shop till you drop.

4. do not forget to visit many church as you can.
